Our School
At The Promise Career Institute, students experience a transformative educational journey that goes beyond traditional high school education. Students will take nine core academic courses while focusing their remaining coursework training in high-wage, high-skill, in-demand career fields. Through an innovative curriculum developed through our partnership with Atlanta Technical College, students can earn technical certificates by taking college courses while enrolled in high school and graduate with an Accelerated Career Diploma.
The Promise Career Institute effort is part of the Expanded Programs portion of the Bridge to Success Plan, the district's three-year comprehensive plan and transformational investment funded by the American Rescue Plan to help students recover from learning loss resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Accelerated Career Diploma
The Promise Career Institute is aligned to a dual enrollment program that is unique in Georgia, called Accelerated Career Diploma. Using the Accelerated Career Diploma program, students can graduate with their high school diploma while being exempted from certain academic course requirements. These students must complete specific courses during their ninth and tenth grade year. During their remaining two years of high school, students will earn two technical certificates of credit, which may lead towards a technical college diploma or an associate degree. Students who meet these requirements will be issued a high school diploma.
Students electing to attend The Promise Career Institute should consider post-secondary plans beyond high school. Students who successfully graduate from The Promise Career Institute will graduate with two technical college career certifications that qualify them to enter the workforce or continue their education at a technical college. However, The Promise Career Institute graduates will not have all the required high school courses needed to be admitted to a traditional 4-year college or university. The Promise Career Institute graduates wanting to attend a 4-year college or university will be required to take additional courses at the technical college to obtain an Associate's degree.
